I absolutely adore our Hemnes dresser. Having an 8 drawer dresser is probably the biggest help in keeping two wardrobes organized. I thought for sure when we purchased this we would have open drawers to store things in, boy was I wrong. We use up every inch of possible space this dresser offers. If I could fit two in their room, I would. It's sturdy as can be, really inexpensive and I was able to assemble it on my own, in one afternoon, while 24 weeks pregnant with twins.
I used to laugh at drawer organizers. Can't you just fold and place things in the drawer? That keeps them organized enough. Then I purchased a couple sets, and I take back everything I said. I can fit so many more things in each drawer, and I can see what all is in there. I bought these ones from amazon. They unzip for easy storage when not in use, and they were really inexpensive. I love this set from Ikea, so pretty, but we don't have one close to us and their shipping is ridiculous.
All pants and onesies go in the dresser and dresses, shirts and one piece outfits get hung in their closet. We also store diapers, blankets, shoes and accessories in their closet. Right now we are between clothing sizes, shoe sizes and seasons. That means twice as many of everything. I found some amazing black and white bins at Michael's while still pregnant that are perfect for storing shoes, accessories, burp rags, open packages of diapers, just about everything. I snatched up 8 of them in different prints when they were 50% off.
When I did the organization overhaul to the nursery I purchased size dividers for the closet. I wish I would have done it sooner. It makes it easier when putting away laundry, when going to find a certain item, and while packing things into storage. I definitely recommend all mommies to be get these before their little ones show up. I will be giving some as shower gifts in the near future. Sorry to my mommy to be friends reading this blog, I just ruined part of your surprise.
While H and B aren't the most stylish kids around, I think they look pretty darn cute, and coordinated, most of the time. We do most of our shopping at Baby Gap, Old Navy and Target, with a few pieces thrown in from Carter's, Osh Kosh, H&M and custom pieces from Etsy. Having an organized wardrobe helps me keep track of where I need to fill in pieces so I don't wind up over buying for them. See honey, organization is cost saving. Now I need to work on carrying this organization to my closet, and more importantly, Rob's closet and dresser drawers.

ReplyDeleteThanks! I think they're pretty cute too. ;) I would totally organize your dressers. I hate to clean, but love organizing.
DeleteYour kiddos are so cute! You really have the best of both worlds in terms of shopping right now -- you get to shop on both sides of the store and dress them in coordinating outfits if you want! Can you tell I envy that?! We love our Hemnes dresser too. I always get compliments on it and people often think it's from Pottery Barn!
ReplyDeleteShopping for them is so much fun, and expensive. There's a lot more cute girl stuff out right now, but summer was great for little boy stuff.
DeleteLove that dresser AND the drawer organizers! Your two little ones are precious!!!! Thanks so much for linking up with us!
