Now, about our weekend. Our Friday started off as usual. YMCA, kids gym, a quick errand, and then home for naps. That evening the kids and I headed to the mall for a little exercise run off at the play area. Then it was off to meet my parents for dinner at Biaggi's. If you have a Biaggi's near you, do yourself a favor and try The Nutty Russian. One of the best restaurant cocktails I've had in a while. I could have drank at least 5 of them, but I stuck to one.
While I was not over indulging in alcohol, the kids were over indulging in focaccia bread. As in a basket each. I know they love carbs, but holy cow they love carbs. Brooke ate bread, two bites of pasta sauce, and dessert. Harrison was at least willing to try the crab cakes and bacon wrapped dates. Brooke only wanted bread. Thankfully they were both good and sat happily in their high chairs for the entire meal.
This weekend was my weekend to cover the daycare, so that means library and donut date. We convinced our BFFs to join us for donuts and play time. I didn't tell H and B that Sophie would be there until Saturday morning. they were pretty damn excited to see their bestie. And eat donuts.
Saturday evening we went to the grocery, which was the worst decision ever. I knew it would be nuts. Impending snow storm + Superbowl weekend = Bat shit crazy Kroger. We needed a few items for Superbowl food, so we braved the crowds. We survived no worse for wear. Brooke insisted on wearing her kitty mask the entire time we were in the store. I wish I would have snapped a picture of the kitty in the shopping cart eating grapes. She's so ridiculous and I love her for it.
Sunday morning we woke up to a few inches of perfect wet snow. As soon as I got home from my morning doggie daycare trip, we piled on the snow gear and headed outside. We built a snowman. Fed him snowball soup. Made snow angels. Built a snow fort. Unsuccessfully tried to build a second snowman. About the time we finished the snow fort, the snowfall had really started to pick up, and the kids were over it. We went inside for hot chocolate and Frozen.
We of course finished up the evening watching the Superbowl. I can honestly say I only remember one commercial, the half time show, and the last 5 minutes of the game. The rest of the time I was either cooking or wrangling the kids. I am glad I took time to sit down for the half time show because, well, Missy Elliot. Enough said. I was kind of hoping to see Snoop come out during California Girls, but Missy was a welcome surprise.
What did I miss out on by not paying attention during the game. Also, what fun did all of you get into? Any new recipes I need to try that you want to share?
Sounds like a great weekend! I am always shocked at how much bread my little one can eat too

It's amazing, right? When it comes to carbs, they're little bottomless pits.
